Manchester City will not end the season as Premier League champions, but this remains one of the most significant matches in the club’s modern history. Sunday marks Pep Guardiola’s final game in charge after 10 extraordinary years at the Etihad Stadium.

City’s 1-1 draw at Bournemouth confirmed Arsenal as champions, meaning Guardiola will go back-to-back seasons without winning a league title for the first time in his managerial career. Aston Villa: European champions with freedom to play

Aston Villa arrive in Manchester after one of the greatest weeks in the club’s modern history. Emery’s side won the Europa League final in Istanbul, beating Freiburg 3-0 to secure their first European trophy for 44 years.

Two superb first-half goals from Youri Tielemans and Emiliano Buendia set the tone before Morgan Rogers added a third, giving Villa a deserved victory and handing Emery a record-extending fifth Europa League crown as a manager.

Villa had already qualified for next season’s Champions League through their Premier League position after beating Liverpool 4-2, so the Europa League triumph simply added silverware to an already outstanding campaign.
