What an amazing game we had in the UEFA Champions League second leg quarter final this Tuesday at the Stamford Bridge.Chelsea drew 4-4 against Liverpool and made it to the semi final against Barcelona with a 7-5 goals aggregate.
Although it was an breathless game there were mistakes from both team players and goalkeepers.
Chelsea have made two changes from the side that have beaten Bolton on Saturday with Michael Essien for Jon Mikel Obi and Alex has replaced John Terry.Liverpool was without captain Steven Gerrard.
In the first half Liverpool have taken the lead with an ingenious 35 yards free kick from Fabio Aurelio.Ten minute Liverpool scored a second from a penalty taken by Xabi Alonso.
Chelsea manager Guus Hiddink made a tactical replacement of Salomon Kalou with Nicolas Anelka at the 35min.
The first half ended win a Liverpool’s victory and all eyes were on how Chelsea would react at the second half.
In the second half Chelsea came early from an own goal from Pepe Reina from a Didier Drogba touch after a Nicolas Anelka made a cross.A viciously swerving 35 yards free-kick from Alex made Chelsea levelled and 5-3 on aggregate.
Liverpool’s dreams looked finished when Drogba crossed for Lampard to apply the finish after a mistake from Xabi Alonso at the 76min.
But with ten minutes remaining a long-range effort from Lucas was deflected off Michael Essien to beat Petr Cech.Liverpool somehow got a life line.Dirk Kuyt header gave Liverpool hope at the 83min after a foolish Chelsea’s mistake.
At the 89min after Frank Lampard scored its double from a great Nicolas Anelka passing and ended all Liverpool hope for the Semi Finals.
Final Score at Stamford Bridge Chelsea 4-4 Liverpool and 7-5 on agg with Chelsea through to face Barcelona in the Champions League semi-final.
