Arsenal have trashed 10-man Villarreal 3-0(4-1)with goals fromTheo Walcott, Emmanuel Adebayor and Van Persie(pen)in the second leg of the quarter final of the UEFA Champions League.
In the first half Arsenal took the lead with a 9min goal from Theo Walcott to the bottom left corner of the Villarreal net.
Before the break Villarreal tried to put some pressure on Arsenal but failed to an excellent defence.
In the second half Arsenal continued to put pressure on Villarreal and at the 60min,Emmanuel Adebayor scored Arsenal second goal from a Robin van Persie pass.
At the 65min Godin took Walcott’s legs away in the penalty area and the referee awarded a penalty and Eguran who was complaining to the referee received a second yellow card and was sent off.
Van Persie fired in the penalty to the left of Lopez and Arsenal were three goals ahead and Villarreal were reduced to 10-man.
Arsenal nearly came close to a fourth goal when Abou Diaby who have replaced Van Persie at the 77min flashed his shot wide.
It finished Arsenal 3-0 Villarreal at the Emirates Stadium and Arsenal will travel to Old Trafford against Man.Utd for the first leg of the UEFA Champions League semi final.Man Utd won 1-0 at FC Porto.
