After the break Preston continued to trash Cardiff with a goal from Jon Parkin while 4min later an own goal from Mark Kennedy sealed Preston hope for the play-off.Chris Brown and Lee Williamson scored Preston Fifth and Sixth goals.
A 46min goal from Sylvan Ebanks-Blake was enough for Wolves to seal their place in the automatic promotion for the English Premier League next season for the first time since 2004.
Charlton drew 2-2 against Blackpool and saw their relegation confirmed.Charlton will be in the third division next season for the first time in 29 years.
Charlton took the lead with a goal from Deon Burton at 48min while one minute later Deon Burton double the score.
Dudley Campbell scored for Blackpool from the spot kick while in the stoppage time substitute Lee Hughes secured the draw for the visitors.
Elsewhere Nottingham Forest have beaten Coventry 1-0 to move at the 20th place while Barnsley FC dropped to the 21th place after drawing at Reading.
