Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has confirmed that 31-year-old defender will be out the rest of the season with the knee injury he sustained in the Tuesday’s 1-1 UEFA Champions League quarter final first leg draw against Villarreal.
Arsenal defender William Gallas damaged the medial ligament in his right knee during a collision with striker Giuseppe Rossi.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger will likely call Johan Djourou.Johan Djourou have replaced William Gallas in the Tuesday’s game.
“It is not the best news for Gallas. He’s a quick recoverer but we think it will be too short to come back before the end of the season. It is a big blow but the squad comes in.”said Arsenal Manager during the pre-match conference against Wigan
Arsenal will be also without goalkeeper Manuel Almunia for three weeks.Manuel Almunia suffered an ankle injury during the Villarreal match.
